Just a thought, is everyone doing there own thing getting to Eurokat4? or does anyone want to ride over in a group? I know we are all spread all over GB, so maybe some of us could maybe meet at different ports! Dover, Hull, Newcastle? then maybe meet up in France? Me and the wife will be going on the bikes with our kids so we will only be chilling at 75mph. we only want to do a max of 250/300 miles aday (don't want kids to fall asleep) and if we see something interesting we want to stop for a while, we don't want to sit on motorways all day when we get across the water. Also I think we want to make it apart of our holiday, so it will be over 7 to 10 days. Oh and we was thinking of sleeping in cheap accomodation, formula1 or whatever on the way.
just a thought, what are your thoughts?

I just been on the dog and bone to FBJ as im thinkin of maybe doing to eurokat , bit of a toss up between a Greek wedding on the island of santorini (not mine) or the eurokat.
Or maybe ( daft idea) doin both dependin if i can get back to blighty for the 24th august for a flight out to greece.............Or ( even dafter idea) maybe carrying on from Swisserland through Italy to ancona and a ferry to pareus, then another ferry to santorini............but that would be one hell of a slog.........Not even i am that daft....am I?
Really fancy goin on the eurokat!
But also fancy a Big fat Greek wedding too

Jumping the Gun here a bit chaps .
We did Eurokat 2 to Germany a few years ago and we went to different ports and met up.
We have learnt lessons from this .
All options and ideas will be discussed at the AGM . Then we will find out how from where and try to get block booking discounts .
The idea is to get people to there port of choice, meet up enroute and take 2/3 days to enjoy journey. Using cheap hotels /formula1 as much as poss. |

my idea was to take 4/5 days to and from eurokat,
poss do oss do on way back if they can organise it
but have no real agenda, so if other folks out there we can see if we can meet up for a night,
have recently been advised re formula1 (thanks smand) and will probably make the most of them on the journey |

| Me and the wife have just been looking on google map, Luxembourg is only 430km from Calais. Zurich is a further 470 miles from Luxembourg. This is going to be apart of our holiday. We want to maybe see France (done France loads) maybe nip into Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, maybe after the rally Italy. We want to see a fare bit of the Alps. |

Hi John
Always fancied visiting the WW1 trenches and Cemeteries in Belgium, and other WW1 related places.
So if I do tag along as discussed would these sort of places be on your visiting list?

No probs Johnr.
Would be nice to travel down with someone going from my neck of the woods.
I have also asked FBJ if he minds me tagging along with him Flo and their young uns!
Think I will be going to the AGM on the 15th Nov so I can get a greater idea of what everyones plans are and where the best crossing is to the continent.oh and to meet up with everyone again!
Its looking very likely im going to be heading back home early on the Sunday 22rd Aug of the Eurokat ralley for a late ferry or eurostar late Sunday night / early Monday.
I just need to know exactly where in switzerland the Eurokat is as there are a few places called WIL.
And need to work out the miles I need to travel in a day!
But I am going !

Hello Bobster, I did alot of the war stuff earlier this year on way to Nurberg (battle of the Bulge) battle of Ypres. I don't think Ypres would be to fare of the beaten track.
So are you totally commited now then? |
